I was invited to participate in the Artisterium 2016, the 9th Annual International Art Exhibition and event held in Tbilisi, the capital of The Republic of Georgia. Artisterium is organized by the Georgia-based, non-governmental art organization Artisterium Association. The event is composed of international exhibitions, individual art projects, and educational and cultural programs–hosting artists, curators, and critics from around the world in an effort to promote cultural exchange and dialogue. Artisterium 2016 runs from November 4-14 and will have exhibitions and events at the Georgian National Museum, Tbilisi History Museum, State Museum of Georgian Literature, Europe House, Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, Gala Gallery, and Container Gallery.
Situated in the Caucasus, Georgia is bordered by the Black Sea, Russia, Armenia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan. Georgia’s history is ancient and I look forward to the inspirations that await me. Fun fact: There is evidence of advanced goldsmithing and metallurgy in Georgia that dates back to the 7th century BC. Amazing! I will be heading to Georgia at the end of October and plan to pack as much as possible into the week-long trip. I will be bringing recent artwork with me and plan to make additional work on site using local source material.
Here are images of the new work in progress. I will be posting more images and discoveries during the trip.
